Teachers

Miss caitlin - principal (AISTD FIDTA AA)

Miss Caitlin has been dancing since the age of three, when she began training at the Lisa Marie School of Dance in York. From the age of 12, she assisted with younger classes and quickly developed a passion for teaching. She went on to choreograph numerous solos, duets and group routines that achieved success at national competitions.

At 16, Miss Caitlin trained professionally at the Italia Conti Arts Centre, where she was appointed Head Girl. During her training she gained her DDE ISTD teaching qualifications in Ballet, Tap and Modern, alongside a Level 6 Diploma in Musical Theatre.

Following graduation, Miss Caitlin performed professionally as a dancer for many contracts including playing Lily in The Gruffalo show at Chessington World of Adventures Resort. Alongside performing, she taught at several highly regarded dance schools across Surrey, where her love of teaching continued to grow. During this time, she was mentored by the brilliant CL, creator of the hugely successful Twinkle Toes programme, which inspired many of the foundations of Generation Dance's preschool classes.

Recognising the need for a high-quality dance school in her hometown, Miss Caitlin returned to North Yorkshire and founded Generation Dance in 2019. Since then, the school has gone from strength to strength, growing into a thriving and welcoming dance community.

Passionate about continually developing both as a teacher and mentor, Miss Caitlin continues to further her professional qualifications with the IDTA. She recently achieved an outstanding 95 marks in her Fellowship Ballet examination and now holds Fellowship level qualifications in Ballet and Modern, as well as Licentiate level in Theatre Craft, reflecting her commitment to providing the highest standard of dance education for every student.

Miss Gaby

Miss Gaby began dancing at the age of two in baby ballet before going on to train in tap and hip hop. She spent the majority of her training at Ripon Dance Academy, where she discovered her passion for teaching, beginning to assist with younger classes from the age of 14. She went on to teach and choreograph competition routines that achieved success at dance festivals across Yorkshire.

Miss Gaby is a graduate of Renaissance Arts Conservatoire and continues to share her enthusiasm and knowledge with every student she teaches.

A valued member of the Generation Dance teaching team, Miss Gaby is passionate about helping every child reach their full potential. She takes great pride in supporting each student's individual dance journey, creating a positive, encouraging environment where confidence and skills can flourish.

Miss Grace

Miss Grace began dancing at the age of two when her mum enrolled her in baby ballet, and she has loved dance ever since. She trained at the Northern School of Contemporary Dance in Leeds before completing a BA (Hons) in Dance Performance at LMA Liverpool.

Since graduating, Miss Grace has performed at festivals and worked on a variety of television and commercial projects, including JD Sports advertisements, Sony pilot productions, iPhone promotional campaigns, and appearances in episodes of Hollyoaks.

Miss Grace is passionate about inspiring the next generation of dancers and is looking forward to sharing her knowledge, creativity and enthusiasm with all of our students at Generation Dance.

Student Assistants

About our assistants

Our teaching assistants work under the guidance and mentorship of Miss Caitlin, where they learn how to support children in a safe, positive and professional environment. They receive training in basic safeguarding, classroom support and age-appropriate teaching techniques, enabling them to confidently assist our teachers and help nurture every student to reach their full potential.

Being a teaching assistant at Generation Dance provides valuable life skills that extend far beyond the dance studio. Many of our assistants have gone on to pursue careers in childcare, education and other people-focused professions, inspired by the experience they gain working with children of all ages.

Our assistants also play an important role in performances and school events, including our annual show. Just as importantly, they help build the strong sense of community that Generation Dance is known for. By supporting younger dancers, encouraging friendships across age groups and acting as positive role models, they help create an environment where every student feels welcomed, supported and part of one dance family.
